Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport

  • – Activities: Upon arrival, meet your Kamere Tours driver guide and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park + Boat Safari

  • – Activities: Begin the day with a Kigali city tour, including a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial. Then, travel to Akagera National Park. After checking in and having lunch, enjoy a boat safari on Lake Ihema, where you can spot hippos and crocodiles.
  • – Optional: Night game drive to spot nocturnal animals.
  • – Drive Time: 2 hours 30 minutes (or Helicopter – 30 minutes)

Day 3: Explore Akagera National Park

  • – Activities: Enjoy a morning game drive in the northern sector of Akagera National Park, where you’ll see elephants, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, and more. Return to the lodge for a restful afternoon.

  • Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
  • – Activities: Depart for Nyungwe Forest with a stop in Huye for lunch and a visit to the Ethnographic Museum. Arrive in Nyungwe in the evening.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking and Canopy Walk

Day 6: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Physical Level: Moderate to Difficult

This is an active safari requiring hiking for hours in forests and volcanoes. The treks range from 1 hour to 4-6 hours, with elevations above 2000 meters above sea level.

Transfers and Lodges

All transfers are arranged from the first to the last day, excluding airport transfers, which can be arranged at an extra cost. Accommodations are mid-range, inspected for health and safety protocols, and offer great service.
