Although physically intimidating and powerful, gorillas are extremely intelligent, sensitive and emotional beings.

In fact, they share many human emotions such as laughter and sadness, so it is no surprise that gorillas share 98% of their genetic code with humans, making them one of humans closest living relatives, after chimpanzees and bonobos.

The Kamere Cultural Scheme is a community initiative focused on empowering marginalized groups near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, and Ichuya Forest Reserve in Uganda. It aims to promote and preserve Bufumbira culture and endangered mountain gorillas while protecting their natural habitats. The scheme engages local communities in cultural activities that foster a love for nature, address climate change, and support conservation through sustainable tourism. It also encourages intercultural exchange between locals and visitors, enhancing mutual understanding and appreciation for local culture and wildlife conservation efforts.
