Kisoro Has Birthed Another Café - But This One Changes Lives

Kisoro Has Birthed Another Café – But This One Changes Lives. Visit Muhabura Social Summit near Mgahinga and Bwindi, and be part of something beautiful.
Because inclusion isn’t a favor, it’s a future we build together.

Nestled along the Kabale-Bunagana road, in the heart of Kisoro’s breathtaking highlands, a unique kind of café has opened its doors. Just minutes away from Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and a scenic drive from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Muhabura Social Summit welcomes you with more than just coffee-it invites you into a movement.

This is not your typical café. It’s a value-driven social enterprise that blends inclusive hospitality, disability-centered advocacy, and community-based art to uplift lives while celebrating Uganda’s cultures and diverse abilities.

A Perfect Reward After Gorilla Trekking

After your unforgettable gorilla trekking experience, there’s no better place to unwind than Muhabura Social Summit.
Enjoy a freshly brewed cup of Ugandan coffee, indulge in locally inspired meals, browse vibrant community art, and experience a space alive with purpose.

Here, every visit makes a difference.

  • Every meal funds therapy for a child.

  • Every purchase uplifts a family.

  • Every guest becomes part of a broader mission—one that empowers caregivers, trains youth, and redefines inclusion in rural Uganda.

Why It Matters: The Challenge We’re Tackling

In Uganda, children with disabilities and their families continue to face deeply rooted barriers—social, economic, and structural—that limit their full participation in society:

  • Stigma & social isolation: 76% of children with disabilities are excluded from schools, places of worship, and public spaces (UBOS, 2021).

  • Lack of therapy access: Only 1 in 10 children consistently receives services like physiotherapy, occupational therapy, or speech-language support.

  • Poverty at home: Over 90% of caregivers—mainly women—have no stable income, making daily care and long-term planning difficult.

  • Vocational exclusion: Most teenagers with disabilities lack access to training or job opportunities, leaving them dependent and disempowered.

These challenges don’t just impact individuals—they silence potential, deepen poverty cycles, and isolate an entire segment of Uganda’s population.

A Bold, Community-Led Solution

Muhabura Social Summit is responding in an innovative way—by transforming everyday experiences into vehicles for social change.

It’s a community hub designed to respond to both local challenges and align with global priorities, including:

  • SDG 3 – Health and Well-being

  • SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities

  • SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth

We believe inclusion should be visible, tangible, and celebrated—not hidden or tokenized. That’s why we’re building a space where art, food, therapy, and culture come together to create impact.

Have You Always Desired to See Gorillas and Golden Monkeys?

Uganda is Calling – Come for the Adventure, Stay for the Impact.

If you’ve ever dreamed of standing face-to-face with a mountain gorilla, or watching a troop of golden monkeys leap through the bamboo forests, then it’s time to make that dream real.

Uganda, the Pearl of Africa, offers one of the most unforgettable primate and wildlife experiences on Earth. From the misty slopes of Mgahinga Gorilla National Park to the ancient jungles of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, this country is a living, breathing Eden for nature lovers and adventure seekers.

Gorilla Trekking:

Meet one of the world’s most endangered and awe-inspiring creatures in its natural habitat. Trek through lush rainforest and spend a life-changing hour with a mountain gorilla family, led by a silverback who knows every inch of the forest.

Golden Monkey Trekking:

Energetic, playful, and rarely seen anywhere else in the world, golden monkeys are another rare gem in Uganda’s primate crown. You’ll find them only in the Virunga mountains  particularly in Mgahinga – where Gold Meets Silver, where they dart between bamboo trees with dazzling speed.

Wildlife Encounters Beyond the Forest:

Uganda also offers classic safari adventures, from Queen Elizabeth to Murchison Falls National Park, where lions, elephants, giraffes, hippos, and more roam the savannah and riverbanks.

Unwind at Lake Mutanda

After the trek, let nature cradle you with the serene waters of Lake Mutanda, a peaceful gem surrounded by volcanoes and dotted with islands. Whether it’s a canoe ride, a refreshing swim, or just watching the sunset over the mountains, this is where memories are made.
